Chinese buyers sought for Danga Bay project

Chinese developer Country Garden Holdings Ltd is actively

marketing its maiden Malaysian project in the cities of

Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Shenzen and Nanning.

According to Kayson Yuen, Regional President of Country

Garden Properties (M) Sdn Bhd, Chinese buyers have been

buying “residential properties in other countries as their

second home as well as for investment purposes.”

Speaking at the press conference announcing the launch of

the Country Garden Danga Bay (CGDB), Yuen said the

company is confident that the project will be well-received,

with 50 percent of its buyers expected to come from China

and Singapore and the rest from Malaysia.

“We want to turn Danga Bay into the next Sentosa (in

Singapore) with our world-class project here,” he said,

adding that potential buyers will enjoy the best of both

worlds, considering Johor Bahru's close proximity to

Singapore.

As the firm's first project outside China, CGDB will be

developed through its subsidiary Country Garden Danga Bay

Sdn Bhd, with Country Garden Properties overseeing its

projects in Malaysia.

Nestled on a 23.06ha sea-fronting site, the project will

feature 9,000 condominium units and commercial

development such as a shopping mall as well as a

commercial

boulevard with a gross development value of RM18 billion.

Set to be completed in 2017, the project will be developed in

three phases, which will be launched simultaneously,

revealed Yuen.
